SkyDrive is free cloud storage and backup service from Microsoft. This is Microsoft's attempt to beat Dropbox and Google Drive. You can also upgrade your SkyDrive for free and get 25GB for life. Lets come back to topic, When you install SkyDrive in your Windows using default installation process, a folder will be automatically created in C drive i.e. C:\Users\[Your Name]\SkyDrive. This folder will sync with your SkyDrive account.
Most of people don't want it to be created in C drive or in My Documents folder. Microsoft is aware of this thing and there is a feature to change the location of skydrive folder. You will have to unlink the SkyDrive and Relink it again to change the folder address. Here is how you can do it;
@How to Change SkyDrive Folder Location :
- Go to system tray, right click on SkyDrive icon, select settings
- A new window will pop up, click on "Unlink SkyDrive" (make sure all files are uploaded as all connections will be broken when you unlink SkyDrive)
- Now, Go to system tray and click on SkyDrive icon again. This process will give you a fresh setup of SkyDrive application.
- You will see a welcome screen, click on Get Started and sign-in with your Live ID.
- On the next screen, you will see an option to change the default SkyDrive folder location. Click on Change option and select your desired location.
- Once you have selected a desired location, click on NEXT and you're done
- Now as you have changed the folder location, make sure that all your folders and files are up to date before deleting the old SkyDrive folder. It would be better if you move the data from old folder to new folder.
