AVG Secure search is actually a sort of tab feature. AVG Secure Search intergrate a search box with your browser tab upon installtion of any AVG product such as antivirus installation. There is nothing dangreous about AVG Secure search, in fact, it is powered by Yahoo!. This is quite handy feature however as you can do multiple searches by simply opening new tabs.

However most of the people are not pleased with this feature and consider it as unwanted feature on a new tab. Those who find it annoying, dont have to worry as for now we have a solution for this. You can simply remove or disable AVG secure search feature.




Different browsers have different procedures for the removal of AVG secure search. Choose any suitable method according to your browser.

@Remove/Disable AVG Secure Search from Mozilla Firefox :

• Open Mozilla Firefox.
• From search box on the navigation tool bar, click on the search engine logo and select Manage Search Engines… from the drop down list.
• It will open a window of Search Engine List.
• Highlight AVG Secure Search and click on Remove button.
• Click OK to save the current settings.
• To restore your default homepage, go to top menu of Firefox browser and select Tools.
• Click Options from the list.
• On General tab, set your default homepage by typing a URL of your choice.
• Click OK to save and exit the Option window.

@Remove/Disable AVG Secure Search from Google Chrome :

• Open Google Chrome.
• Click on the Wrench icon located in the upper right corner of Google Chrome.
• Select Settings from the list.
• Choose Basics on left pane. Click on Manage Search Engine… on the right pane.
• Hover your mouse on your desired search engine and click on Make Default.
• Hover your mouse on AVG Secure Search and click the X mark to delete the item.
• Close the window.
• Back at the Basics screen, locate the Home page area and set the default home page address to your chosen URL.

@Remove/Disable AVG Secure Search from Internet Explorer :

• Open Internet Explorer.
• On top menu, click on Tools. Select Internet Option from the drop down list.
• On Internet Options window, select the Programs tab.

• Click on Manage add-ons button.
• On left pane, choose Search Providers. You can see a list of search providers in right pane.
• You cannot quickly remove AVG Secure Search if it is set as the default. Please select a default search provider first.
• You can now Disable or Remove AVG Secure Search from the list.
• Close the Manage Add-ons Window.
• On Internet Options window, click on General tab.
• Please set the Home page address to your own default URL.
